Hello Lovers,

It’s been quite a while so I thought to share what’s happening with me lately.

I am also excited to be a part of the latest Lancôme Beauty Campaign, “My Shade My Power”. The campaign showcases 40 awesome ladies and I feel really blessed to be part of them.

Here’s my shade of the  Lancôme Teint Idole ultra wear foundation. What’s your shade? What’s your power? You can get matched at the Lancôme pop up at Temple Muse or Beauty Bar Essenza.

Enough about me. What have you been up to lately? Kindly share because I’m always happy to read your comments.

Weekdays are the worst, that’s indisputable. It’s important to remember, in all that mayhem, to take care of yourself. Here are some straight forward things you can try before bedtime to wake up looking refreshed and gorgeous in the morning

Remove your makeup before bed.

The most important thing to do to wake up looking fresh is to remove all of your makeup before bedtime. That means leftover mascara, lip colour—everything. Skipping this will clog your pores and leave free radicals on the skin, which can cause acne, create a duller complexion, and contribute to aging. We don’t want that

Put on a thick layer of moisturizer all over the face and neck.

Wake up to supple and well moisturised skin in the morning

Pin your hair back
Your hair contains oils and dirt that can get on your face and pillowcase and cause breakouts. Braid your hair, pin it up into a bun, or wear a satin hair bonnet to keep it off your face as you sleep.

Get a Silk/ Satin Pillowcase

This point flows from the last. Not only do you want to protect your face, you want to keep your hair’s overall health through the week. You can try sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase as fibers on most cotton pillows are rough against the hair cuticles. Don’t want to splurge on silk? Changing a cotton or linen pillowcase every one to two days can also bring an improvement.

Get eight hours of sleep

Beauty rest is not a myth people! Catching a good night’s sleep can really effect the way you look. For those who suffer from dark circles, they occur because a lack of adequate rest compromises your body’s circulatory system and you get stagnant blood in the vessels under the eyes because it hasn’t properly drained. Lack of sleep also causes your skin to look dull and tired because your circulation has been impaired.

Decided to share with you five budget friendly skincare tips with ingredients that could be in your kitchen right now.

  1. A Honey Face Mask: Raw honey, not the processed stuff, is a natural anti bacterial. It’s also a super quick way to get soft, beautiful skin. Once a week, try spreading about a tablespoon of raw honey on your face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and then use warm water to gently rinse it off and pat dry.
  2. A replenishing lip mask: This honey treatment isn’t reserved for the face. If you’ve got dry lips combine a teaspoon of coconut oil, honey, two table spoons of sugar and a dash of lemon juice in a small bowl. Apply the mixture with a toothbrush in a circular motion to your lips. Rinse off and follow with your favourite lip balm.
  3. Elbow and Knee exfoliator/brightener: Cut an orange in half and rub it on your elbows and knees. Not only does it help soften up the rough patches, it acts as a lightening agent. It also smells really good.
  4. Full Body Scrub: Mix a 2 to 1 ratio of olive oil and sea salt to make a quick body scrub. this helps get rid of dead skin cells revealing softer, glowing skin.
  5. An alternative scrub, ‘The Dry Brush’: Dry brushing is a simple exfoliation process that helps to stimulate a number of organs in your body. It helps the lymphatic system, tightens skin by promoting circulation, eliminates dead skin, and can even eliminate cellulite.

Bear in mind, these natural beauty tips are not quick fixes. You need to make sure you’re getting enough hours of sleep, eating well, drinking lots of water and exercising. Remember that you get out of your body what you put in, so be sure to take care of yourself.

Getting my makeup done is one of the fun parts of preparing for any event. I’m very particular about how I want to look at all times so my makeup artists have to be extremely patient and pay attention to detail.

I love working with Joyce Jacob because she takes her time with prepping the skin to perfection. This is an important step for me, as often times I go easy on the eyes and lips. Hence, having that AKD glow is very key. (Wink)

A simple trick to achieving that seamless glow I learned from Joyce is blending your contour, highlight and blush together. It’s the best way to achieve a more natural glow.

Another part of getting dolled up I love is applying false lashes. This is one way to take your look some notches higher. Lashes can transform your look from simple to fierce, and from plain to very sultry.

When it comes to lipsticks, I usually stick to my nudes and earthy tones; but lately, ‘Lime Crime’ has me loving a variety of shades especially Metallics.

The Velvetine collection has such an enchanting array of colours, it’s difficult for a girl not to find her favourite.

The colours are very unique, vibrant and richly pigmented. I especially love the shade ‘Beetle’ because of its brown hue and subtle glow.

‘Lime Crime’ lip-stains dry up completely matte, stay on for hours and they don’t dry out my lips like other lip-stains.

I’m hooked on these lipsticks and what’s really cool, is that ‘Lime Crime’ ships directly to Nigeria so shopping for them, is really easy.

Love Always

There is no shortage of events in Los Angeles regarding lifestyle, beauty, and trends.  It’s particularly exciting for me when I get to attend these types of events with friends of mine who live in the States and share similar passions as myself.  Over the weekend, I went to the famed BeautyCon L.A. festival with my dear friend, Kelly Rowland, and her business partner, Sheika Daley.  BeautyCon L.A. is a large conference where influencers, celebrities, beauty professionals, and enthusiasts alike come together to celebrate all things beauty-related and fabulous!

Kelly and I made our rounds through the conference visiting various booths to meet reps and professionals from the wide array of brands on-site.  The QVC booth was one of our favorites as it housed a number of brands, influencers, and makeup artists, including Mally Roncal, founder of Mally Beauty.  The Lime Crime booth was the most popular as it was packed with the longest lines in the convention; but it made perfect sense because their unique packaging & product assortment for all skin types was perfection.  Carol’s Daughter was also exhibiting, and the scents to their haircare products were simply divine.  I can’t wait to use the full collection I got.  We finished up at the NYX Cosmetics booth to get a peek at their latest collections.  Their booth was setup for demonstration and “how to” stations to help teach new make-up artists the best trends in the beauty world, and it was very fun to watch people in their element.

Overall, this was a great event for beauty enthusiasts to learn about new products and beauty trends.  It was certainly great research for myself as I plan to venture into the realm of beauty in the near future.  Looking forward to sharing that with you soon!

 Love, Abi

Caring for my skin is just as important to me as eating right. Apart from the physical rewards, that clean feeling is rather fulfilling; so of course it’s great to find and stick with good and effective products.

Living in a hot climate (its been especially hot lately) , I can’t just rely on melanin (lol),  I also have to do my part, which is why sunscreen and my ceramide capsules are and always will be part of my beauty regimen.

Since make up is also part of the process…. sometimes (its important to let your skin breathe), I’ve included some of the products that work well with my skin tone.
