MAKING IT ‘PERSONAL’

This post is very special to my heart and very relevant to the avid shopper. I thought I’d share some of what I think are valid reasons (with a few nuggets from some professionals) to include a personal shopper in your shopping habits.

“Most people see hiring a personal shopper as a luxury . What they often don’t see , is spending money and investing in a personal shopper can ultimately save you money on wasted purchases. The key part of our job is to make sure you are in love with what you have bought. We would be the first people to tell you not to buy something that we thought wasn’t a great investment piece.”- Laurent Bart, personal shopper, Threads Styling.

7 REASONS YOU SHOULD GET A PERSONAL SHOPPER:

1. IT TAKES THE STRESS OUT OF SHOPPING :

Shopping is therapeutic for a lot of people, myself included but you can’t deny that at times it can get a little bit stressful. Some items take too long to find, the desired outfit doesn’t fit perfectly, your feet hurt, you’ve spent 4 hours in one store and still haven’t found anything or you’re just hungry…  A range of undesirable factors can get in the way of the wonderful experience that shopping should be. So why not ensure a stress free experience if you can?

2. JUST SHOW UP:

How awesome is it to tell someone what you want and know that they will deliver. All that’s required from you is to be present (sometimes you don’t even have to be present). Now that’s TRUST.

3. ACCESS:

Your personal shopper eases any worries you might have because sure enough , if they’re good at their job, they know where to find and get whatever it is you want. Voila! your precious time is saved. Just like that, the “there are only five of them in the world” item is blissfully added to your collection.

4. YOU HAVE A VERY SKILLED SHOPPING BUDDY:

Like any shopaholic will tell you , finding a shopping companion with zero judgement and an encouraging spirit is very vital to the shopping experience (should you choose to go with a companion). Nobody wants anyone who lacks stamina or what I call “guilt trip captains”.

With a personal shopper you have someone who knows where everything is, has enough energy for the both of you, and is happy to be there.

5) SAY GOODBYE TO ‘THEME THROMBOSIS’:

A personal shopper can curate options in the store for dressing for an event. Thereby saving you lots of time. Say goodbye to the added stress of trying to find an outfit for a specific type of event or themed event, which would eventually lead you to staying home with a glass of wine in hand. Defeated.

6. NO EXCESS BAGGAGE:

You’ll be pleased to know that you can freely wander from store to store without logging heavy shopping bags – although ‘Pretty woman’ on Rodeo drive fantasy doesn’t hurt, having full confidence in the fact that your personal shopper will round up all your items and have them waiting for you when you’re done , or have the items brought home to you!

7. IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU:

Your personal shopper isn’t there to force any pieces or items on you. He or she can make suggestions once they’ve come to understand you and your style, but ultimately you ask for what you want , and naturally you should get it.

“Make sure that your personal shopper has a good reputation with your favourite stores or just a good reputation in general. Some personal shoppers have a bad reputation for returning expensive items and you definitely don’t want to be associated with that.”- Hilda Oloniniyi, Personal Shopper, The Shopping Guru.

All in all, having  a personal shopper means you do not have to worry. A good personal shopper will DELIVER and you will definitely get your moneys worth!

Love, Abi.
